christmas performance
Akron's beloved holiday tradition celebrates its 30th year! A gift to the community from The University of Akron School of Music and E.J. Thomas Hall, TubaChristmas combines hundreds of tubas - many festively adorned with tinsel, garlands and lights - and sing a longs in a beautiful setting. If you are interested in performing, contact founder and conductor Tucker Jolly at 330-972-6641 or trjolly@uakron.edu. "Free for audience, $5 for performers."
Tucker Jolly joined the Univ. of Akron's music faculty in 1980, and began Akron's own version of TubaChristmas in December that same year. Akron's TubaChristmas is now among the largest in the country. The first performance was held outside on the Cascade Plaza with 55 musicians.
