St. Thomas Hospital

My mother had the misfortune of being "incarcerated" here for a broken hip. The place is filthy, the food is inedible, and the staff drag around like a bunch of whipped puppy dogs. The ER is like something out of a slasher movie - freaks, creeps and weirdos everywhere. While I waited there for my mother to be admitted I had the personal thrill of sitting next to a man who was overdosing, and a half-naked woman eating an entire bucket of KFC while hollering for pain meds. Visiting in the evening is also a special experience, as apparently all the security and other staff leave and you're on your own to wander around a hospital that is virtually deserted. I've heard they're tearing this place down, and if that's true, it's not a moment too soon.
