Great Birthday Parth

I wish to commend and recommend Melrose Restaurant for an outstanding party and meal experience. On Saturday, January 7, 2012 we held an extended family birthday party for four family members - ages 12, 40, 50 and 63. There were 38 family members attending the party. The restaurant organization and service was outstanding. Beginning in November 2011 there were several meetings with the banquet coordinator who was instrumental in arranging the details - time, location - Wine Loft and a nice menu selection. The Wine Loft was truly a nice venue offering such amenities as a sense of intimacy, view, bar and a very pleasant diverse seating arrangement. Enough cannot be said of the organization and service. The servers were fully committed to creating a relaxing atmosphere including meeting the wants of children and adults with pleasant demenors. The food was served in a timely manner not interfering with the distribution of special presents and the conversations generated thereby. There were numerous comments about the very good quality of the meals including: pasta, chicken and steak entrees. The desserts including a birthday cake, variety of cupcakes and several pies prepared by the on-site bakery were particularly delectable. The staff organization was particularly noteworthy at the conclusion of the party - which by no means was rushed - as different family combinations were responsible for paying for meals and drinks. There was definitely a lack of confusion. Overall it is difficult to perceive a better family birthday experience.

Great food - LOUSY service

October 18, 2011 I can't knock this recreation of the old Mapleside Restaurant when it comes to their food but come on - it was 15 minutes for them just to bring us soft drinks and it took OVER and hour for our food to make it to the table. We had 2 small children with us so we weren't out for a "leisurely" dinner and while we weren't expecting "fast food" we certainly thought it would arrive before the people who were seated right next to us were already paying their bill and leaving. We did approach management and the only thing they offered to do was give us a complimentary dessert - I wonder how long we would have had to wait for that. I will say again - we were all quite satisfied with our meals WHEN they finally arrived but I can't honestly say the food was worth the wait. If I were you - I'd go somewhere else. There are alot of restaurants out there that have just as good / or better food and definetly BETTER SERVICE.

I wish I had taken the time to read others reviews before we went - I could have saved our group from a truly bad experience. I would NOT recommend Melrose Grill.

Afternoon was a sad experience

We reserved a room for our club Christmas celebration. We chose our food in advance and paid for it in advance. We had a room to ourselves. The room was very cold. They were unable to raise the temperature. The food was lousy. I have been married for many years. MY husband never complains! However, his chicken dinner was awful. When he complained, the manager asked him if she could taste the food!! They replaced his meal. When we told her our meals were not what we ordered ( ie dressing with the prok) we were told that that the menu changes often as does the price. We were told we'd have to take what we got and pay the difference if any. They replaced my husband's chicken with barbecued pork. This dish consisted of slices of pork on dry stuffing with barbecue sauce poured on top of the pork. Very poor. We will not return. However, the salad dressing was good! Must go bathe now so I can warm up.
