French onion soup and the chicken crepe - perfection. They could redecorate if they wanted to but it wouldn't change the frequency of my visits ;-)
I never thought that this restaurant would create cravings but every time I return to my home town to visit family, we find ourselves picking this place for dinner over all the other choices in the area.
Service was terrible for the food rendered. Servers would stand behind customers and make comments about them at a volume that can be easily heard. They would make customers feel unwelcome and unwanted. With quotes such as "[This table] is ridiculous" and actions such as ripping a note out of my hand when I wanted to express my concerns when staff was unapproachable will make me NEVER go there again.
How I love this place! I have been comming here with my friends and family for longer than I can remember.
Yes the decor is dated but the food has always been great. I could live on their Onion Soup!! The Creamed Chicken Crepe is my fave.
The onion soup is so awesome! The bowl is a meal all by itself. I've never had a bad crepe there. At one time I thought like the others that the decor was outdated. I've been going there for around 36 years. Now I think the "outdated" decor is part of the restaurants charm.
This place looks like a dive but they have consistently served fabulous food for the 20 years I've been going there. The creamed chicken crepe is to die for and I ALWAYS get it. If you can look past the worn interior you'll get a great meal.
From the thick, melted cheese to the yummy broth and everything in between, the place just gets it right. I've tried french onion soup at other places, and they don't hold a candle to the soup found here. Order the bowl when you place your drink order. It does take 20 minutes. (the cup comes quicker though).
The crepes, salads, quiches and sandwiches are all very good. For dessert crepe, I recommend the cherry!
The prices here are very moderate. The only shortfall, the decor. Just WAY outdated. The handpainted mural, at one time (when I was very young) looked very nice. Now, it just looks dingy. Frankly, the decor would be better served to have a fresh coat of paint over everything and hang framed art work instead.
Still, I just can't get enough of the French Onion Soup and that is the thing that keeps me coming back time after time.
