Film Synopsis: Journey through the life, works, and struggles of Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio in this unique cinema event.
As with his work, the great Italian artist's life was characterized by light and shadow, contrasts and contradictions, genius and sobriety. A revolutionary figure who was often not so beloved by his contemporaries, the film explores his key works, from his early beginnings with Bacchus; Boy with a Basket of Fruit, through the Roman period artworks: Cardsharps, Saint Catherine, Judith Beheading Holofernes, to the last works such as the iconic David with the Head of Goliath. We see him travel Milan, Venice, Rome, Naples, Malta, Sicily, before his untimely death in Porto Ercole, one step away from the salvation of Rome.
Utilizing cutting-edge technology to delve deep inside the artist's works as never seen before, enter into the mind and soul of Caravaggio, finding in his masterpieces the echo of his extraordinary personal experiences.
