The School of Art Collection and Galleries and the School of Art at Kent State University present Cheap Thrills at the Downtown Gallery, located at 141 E. Main St. in Kent. The exhibit will feature recent sculpture by part-time faculty members Kortney Niewierski and Shannon Hines and will be on view through Dec. 2. The opening reception will take place on Thursday, Nov. 2, from 5-7 p.m.
Ms. Hines earned her B.F.A. and M.F.A. from Kent State’s School of Art. She has shown her work in both juried and collaborative exhibitions in the Ohio area, including a two-person exhibition with Kent State sculpture professor Isabel Farnsworth at the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts in 2017. She is an assistant professor at Kent State’s School of Art.
Ms. Niewierski received her B.F.A. in sculpture from the Ohio State University and is a graduate of Kent State with a Master of Fine Arts in sculpture. Ms. Niewierski currently teaches drawing and foundations as an adjunct professor at Kent State and drawing and 3-D Design at the University of Akron.
Gallery hours are Monday through Friday, 9:30 a.m.-6 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.; and Sunday, noon-5 p.m.
